Definition
Castling is a move where the king moves two squares towards a rook and the rook moves to the other side of the king.
The rules of castling are:
- The king and rook cannot have been previously moved.
- The squares between the king and rook must be empty.
- The king may not be in check or pass through a check.
You can castle on the king's side of the board, called "king side castling" or on the queen's side of the board, called "queen side castling."
